Judgement may be exercised at different locations within the personality mechanism.
The first diagram above shows judgement being exercised within the emotional layer, in which the judgement is exercised in accordance with the emotions.
The second diagram shows judgement being exercised within the mental layer but downstream of the value layer, and therefore exercised in accordance with and bound by the values and convictions which underpin the personality.
The third diagram shows judgement centralised within the consciousness. From this location judgement is not exercised in accordance with the emotions, but rather, the judgement can judge, assess and analyse the emotions. Also from this position the judgement is not bound by the values, but rather, the values are now subject to the judgement. From this position the values can be compared, weighed, re-judged and re-sorted. The re-sorting process of one’s value spectrum is automatic upon the values being subject to one’s judgement.
Centre your awareness in the head, in the driver’s seat of your being. Be aware of your layers of values, thought, emotion, and physical body.
Now, along with being aware of your values, judge them too. Compare them, analyse them, reason with yourself regarding them, prioritise them, assess their importance relative to each other. Being aware is the first attribute of consciousness, exercising judgement is the second attribute. (And applying force is the third, and we are yet to cover that, though the reader might jump ahead.)
As you practice centralising awareness, so too, practice centralising judgement. In this way you are gradually learning to gather yourself the consciousness into its most potent position, disentangled from the personality layers and seated in the driver’s seat.
Practice differentiating between the component parts/layers of the personality – values, thoughts, emotion and physical/behaviour. (link) These layers are like the layers of an onion. (link) Keep the layers external or separate from your observant self. Notice the different “qualities” of the “substance” of each layer. Become familiar with the layers. Bear in mind that the value layer is like a transparent skin over the consciousness and as such is visually almost indiscernible, but can be sensed by being aware of our convictions and values which are held within it, and which expand out of it into thought when we call them up. (We will cover more on how to discern and access the foundation body later when we look at where the bodies are anchored and how they intermesh.) The most noticeable part of the mental body is where visual thought is screened and where mental words/sound/music is heard. The emotional body is felt where we feel emotions, which are types and frequencies of ripples running through the emotional body. And of course the physical body is where we feel physical sensations and conduct physical behaviour.
Contemplate and internalise the definitions and descriptions of the different bodies. Experiment with setting your understanding of them adjacent to each other in their working places and come to understand how they associate. Study the model. Contemplate the definitions theoretically and practice being aware of them internally, so that you become conscious of your own internal workings. Practice exerting your will upon the component parts of your personality. Begin to take control of your personality mechanism by exerting your will upon the direction of drive that runs through its component parts.
